More than 3000 jobs as Amazon starts seasonal hiring.

They are currently 1,200 permanent workers, now Amazon is recruiting more than 20000 seasonal roles across UK.

John Tagawa, Amazon's vice president of UK Operations, said: "The thousands of periodic associates who join us at this time each year play an integral role in helping us deliver a remarkable experience for our customers during the Christmas season.

Recruitment for seasonal roles is now also underway through local recruitment agencies. A total of 3,615 claimed employment benefits according to the Office for Nation Statistics data shows.

Morfydd Davies, manager at Job centre a recruitment agency, said there were no major reasons for small disturbances in the number of claimants in the region but there were ample amount of job opportunities.

"We are aware of seasonal differences, like in hospitality, but what we are doing is working with employers and candidates to ensure that they are up-to-date and have interchangeable skills," she said.

“Vacancies, with over 6,000 non-permanent and part-time warehouse positions are also available.”

Amazon presently has ten fulfillment centers in the UK and new centers are opening in Manchester and Leicestershire next month creating 1,500 fresh permanent jobs over three years.

Amazon is anticipating its biggest Christmas period ever, also with Black Friday. On Black Friday previous year, Amazon.co.uk sold more than 7.4 million items.
