Jul 28,2015

Scott Armstrong, Member of the Parliament for Cumberland, Colchester, Musquodoboit Valley, Canada, along with Mr. Poilievre, Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister of State, announced that in Cumberland and Colchester counties, 169 young Canadians and 132 employers are participating in summer employment through the Canada Summer Jobs investment.

Canada Summer Jobs make it easier for the students to acquire the skills and experience they need to be successful in the present and in the future, while earning money for the coming academic year. The program has approved nearly 1,500 projects for 2015, supporting over 1,850 jobs in Nova Scotia, as well as around 35,100 jobs across the country. Also, this program helps the employers to address skill shortages.

This announcement is one good example of what the Harper Government is doing to help Canadians. To help hard-working families, the Government has increased the Universal Child Care Benefit and the Family Tax Cut, and is making improvements to the Child Care Expenses Deduction and the Children's Fitness Tax Credit.
