700 Additional Jobs Spring Up due to Royal Liverpool Hospital Construction

There is a provision for the creation of 700 jobs at the site of construction of the new Royal Liverpool Hospital. This facility costs around 335 million pounds, with 310 workers engaged in it. However, Carillion, a development company is of the view that this count will rise to 1,000 by the year end as work accelerates.

According to Operations director, David Kennedy, one of the reasons for them being proud of this project is that it supports the local community by engaging them in work. Carillion has joined hands with the City of Liverpool College to start courses related to construction for individuals who then proceed to join the labor force which is already working on the Royal Hospital.

The development company, Carillion is looking to employ 60 percent of the construction workers from Liverpool area while spending away 60 percent of the budget for Royal Hospital with the local companies. Cllr Nick Small, who is the council’s cabinet member for skills and employment said that it was really good to see that the new Royal Hospital was emerging fast in front of their eyes and also that this project was taking pains to boost the local economy in terms of creating more local jobs and aiding the local supply chain.

The new hospital would be 646-bedded, having 23 wards and 18 operation theatres. It will be 12 storeys high and is slated to open in summer of 2017. It has already been one year since the construction work began.
