As a pioneer of Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) for naval ships, OSI has been building advanced integrated navigation and tactical solutions for over 20 years right here in Vancouver. We develop and deliver integrated bridge systems, integrated dive navigation systems for submarines, and control and tracking systems for small craft. Our solutions are requested by coast guard, military, and off-shore patrol organizations around the world and increased demand for our solutions means our Vancouver software development team is growing. 

We are looking for a Software Engineer to design, develop and troubleshoot software programs for computer based systems. The incumbent carries individual responsibility for the successful implementation of software modules that have been assigned. As a member of the Software Engineering team, the incumbent carries collective responsibility for the successful implementation of the Company’s software product releases and systems. OSI offices are conveniently located in Burnaby near Willingdon and Hwy 1, close to transit, bike routes and running trails. We have free parking, secure bike lock up and showers.

Due of the nature of our company, all employees must pass specific security criteria. Only candidates who are Canadian citizens or have PR status and who satisfy NATO security clearance criteria will be considered.



Designs, writes code, completes programming and performs the testing and debugging of basic applications
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves basic software inadequacies
Performs maintenance and enhancements to existing products
Assists senior team members with moderately complex tasks to gain exposure to more complex software development issues
Complies with OSI’s established ISO-9001-compliant development guidelines and standards
Follows workplace operating and environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines



Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or Engineering Physics
0-2 years of experience in a software environment (co-op and internships may be counted toward experience)
Experience in developing real-time interfaces to external systems
Experience working in an ISO 9001 compliant software engineering environment would be an asset
Experience in C/C++ development under Windows in areas such as 2D/3D graphics, Open GL, TCP/IP, GPS, and real-time systems is highly desirable
Ability to understand and work with software requirement specifications
Ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to learn quickly and work well under pressure in a high paced, challenging environment
There is no business travel required in this role

Required: ability to obtain NATO security clearance.
