Senior Systems Engineer- R&D

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the sustaining activities for current products which will support the commercialization of company developed products. The responsibilities of this role include CAPA handling process, complaint and failure review and analysis, investigation and root cause analysis, identification of solutions and improvements in design and manufacturing processes, managing change and implementation processes following full verification and validation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate all the sustaining engineering activities on one or more projects
Review failures/complaints, conduct investigations and root cause analysis
Work with QA/R&D team to resolve CAPA/INV following procedures and bring them to closure in a timely manner
Identify design/manufacturing issues and propose improvements with cost/time analysis
Work on multiple sustaining activities to ensure compliance and on time delivery
Create and/or maintain documentation for investigations, test protocols and reports, design drawings modifications as per quality and regulatory guidelines
Participate and/or supervise all activities related to product improvements for high reliability and high performance
Act as liaison for R&D team for activities involving cross functional teams including QA, OPS and Supply Chain
Support VMCA’s Quality Management System that establishes and maintains effective quality assurance processes and compliance to the International and National standard
Support production to resolve their issues efficiently and in a timely manner


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

BS or MS in Mechanical/Electrical/Software Engineering or related field
7+ years in related engineering field, 5+ years in device development
Experience in sustaining and product improvement projects
Ability to define goals, delivery dates and meet strict deadlines
Proven skill in developing sustaining projects in medical device development space, an asset
Experience in with design, prototyping, testing and qualification processes
Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks/PADS and MS Office applications, an asset
Detail orientation and strong organizational skills
Strong problem solving, analytic and trouble shooting skills
Ability to make independent judgment based on sound engineering principles and techniques
