Bell’s Network3.0 mandate is to transform how Bell rapidly delivers the best customer experience through software innovation in the Telco Cloud.

At the forefront of the Network 3.0 transformation, our Network Service Orchestration (NSO) team is responsible for developing and operating software solutions to manage and orchestrate our SDN (Software-Defined-Networking) and NFV (Network Function Virtualization) enabled intelligent network in real-time.

We are looking for experienced, truly motivated and highly skilled software developers who want to participate to this transformation. As a member of this DevOps team, you will design, implement, test, integrate, document and evolve innovative software solutions that will support our vision towards an automated, self-optimized and self-healed network. Working in a fast pace, highly technical and multi-disciplinary environment, you will require collaborate with other team members to develop on leading edge technologies including cloud platforms (Openstack), orchestration, SDN controllers, containers, micro-services, big data and DevOps softwares.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze, design, implement, test, integrate and document Network Service Orchestration (NSO) solutions in support of Bell’s Network 3.0 objectives
Scope of work would include key architecture functions such as Service Catalog, Virtual Network Function Managers (VNFMs), NFV Orchestrator (NFVo) and SDN Controllers (SDNc).
Work in a cross-functional devops team (architects, developers, integrators, network specialists) from Bell, 3rd party partners and open source initiatives to drive delivery of NSO.
Develop real-time software solutions to collect and monitor key measurements from the SDN/NFV network and other sources in order to reactively /proactively re-optimize the network.
Participate and contribute to a DevOps practice with high-quality code, continuous integration (CI), continuous deployment (CD), continuous development (CD), automated testing and test-driven-development (TDD).
Perform technology watch, execute POCs and contribute to the strategy and evolution of platforms.
Integrate Network Service Orchestration (NSO) components to existing Bell BSS and OSS systems.
Support NSO day-to-day operations

Critical Competencies

Minimum of eight (8) years of IT software development experience in highly complex environments; Strong proficiency in Java and Python architecture and development.
Experience designing, developing and supporting distributed, real-time and scalable software architectures (micro-services, REST/JSON APIs, Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience developing and operating large-scale Cloud/Virtualization deployments (Openstack and KVM an asset; AWS, Azure)
Experience working in DevOps and Agile teams
Hands-on coding experience with Openstack, Opendaylight, HEAT, Tacker, Ansible and/or Chef, an asset.
Hands-on experience with YANG, TOSCA and HEAT models, an asset;
Strong aptitude for innovation; can recognize opportunities for improvement in day-to-day work and take appropriate actions; ideally an enthusiastic individual who can act as a change agent
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Ability to conceptualize and think abstractly, and work and manage in a technically complex environment.
Bachelor's degree in IT, software engineering or equivalent.

Preferred Competencies

Working experience in SDN or NFV
Experience with Network protocols (e.g. NetConf/RESTconf, CLI, SNMP, BGP, ISIS, IPV6)
Working experience with big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Cassandra, MongoDB, Spark, Kafka)
Experience contributing to major open source projects
Understanding of data plane acceleration technologies (DPDK, SR-IOV)
Written and oral communications skills in both English and French
