The Central Services Legal Team provides a broad range of legal services to other ministries and the legal assistant plays an integral part in the team. In this challenging role as a Legal Assistant you be working closely with the Alberta Transportation Safety Board and the Ministry of Transportation. The Legal Assistant coordinates the Transportation Appeals in Alberta and is responsible to receive all applications, disclosures, and submissions from appellants. In addition, the Legal Assistant is responsible for land title registrations, conducting various searches such as land title searches and corporate searches, drafting complex correspondence, documents, contracts, legal opinions, briefings and charts.

Also, the Legal Assistant is required to perform general administrative duties, such as filing, expense claims, opening files, closing files, research and providing reports and other administrative duties as required. 

To be successful in this position, you must:
-    Be able to perform detailed work with accuracy
-    Have excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines
-    Have strong verbal and written communication skills
-    Possess excellent computer and keyboarding skills
-    Multi-task and perform well under pressure
-    Be able to prepare/coordinate high volumes of work
-    Be able to work independently with minimal supervision
-    Have knowledge of various legal practices, acts, statutes, and legal terminology

Qualifications
A two year Legal Assistant Diploma plus one year related experience. Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) is required. Experience with the Alberta Transportation Safety Board would be considered an asset. Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of:
- One year of education for one year of experience; or one year of experience for one year of education.
