The Human Resources Manager provides assistance and leadership aimed at helping achieve organizational objectives. The Human Resources Manager works as a strategic partner to provide guidance and coaching to business leaders in support of their business needs.  An energetic self-starter, you will oversee employee activities ensuring consistency across departments and contracts. You will have the ability to lead and motivate a team of direct reports. Support execution and delivery of HR programs and provide insight into their design and development. Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, this individual ensures that the organization is in compliance with all applicable federal and provincial legislation.
 
Responsibilities:


Effectively collaborating with senior leadership and functional teams to implement strategic HR initiatives in support of the business;
Partners effectively with HR teams and Centers of Excellence to improve HR workplace efficiencies in Goose Bay.
Ensures all employees and work locations are provided with appropriate HR support
The successful candidate must be able to manage and lead complex projects, drive for results, develop innovative solutions, and manage multiple tasks with competing priorities. The position requires strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as the ability to effectively interface with all levels of management.
 Experienced in partnering with business on developing union negotiation strategy and building effective relationships with union leaders and represented employees.
Excellent business acumen; focused on how HR processes and tools accelerate business results
Ensures compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to operations, including support for partnering and/or leading security processes and procedures.
 Creates and maintain a positive working environment supporting Serco values and culture.
Lead, develop and support direct HR reports
Ensure compliance with WSIB and WCB requirements.
Participate in the design and administration of the full employee lifecycle programs, including: recruitment, employee on-boarding and orientation; employment equity plans, employee benefits and pension programs, compensation, performance management, setting objectives, succession planning, training and development etc.
Ensure all deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time.
Recommend changes to work methods, procedures and equipment to improve cost, quality, time effectiveness and customer service.
Responsible for any other duties as may be relevant or required to the position.
Occasional travel will be required (<10%)
 
Required Skills and Knowledge:


A strategic thought leader with excellent management, collaboration, and process skills.
Demonstrated progressive experience in creating and implementing effective human resource strategies
Policy and procedure development experience
Demonstrated understanding of change management practices
Experience delivering training to front-line leadership
Experience in partnering with the business on negotiating union contracts and managing effectively in a unionized environment
Grievance handling and Arbitration experience
Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite, HRIS etc. Experience in implementing HR systems, SAP, SuccessFactors etc. an asset.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Good negotiation skills
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance
Previous managerial/supervisory experience and strong performance management experience.
Possession or ability to obtain of a valid Class 5 NL Driver’s License.
 
Education and Experience:


A university degree with at least 5-7 years progressive experience in Human Resources or Labour Relations
Experience leading/managing an HR Team
CHRP designation preferred
