As the leader for the Human Resources function and member of the management team, you will report to the General Manager of Kidd Operations’ Metallurgical and Mine sites located in Timmins, Ontario. The Kidd Operations are the largest private sector employer in the region.  As a member of the management team, you will contribute to the continuous improvement and sustainability of the sites.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing human resources policies, programs and practices that meet the business objectives of the organization. The incumbent will lead all initiatives and service delivery including recruitment, selection, training, development, performance management, employee labour relations, compensation, benefits, community relations and security activities.

As the ideal candidate, you have extensive experience as an HR generalist and a solid understanding of labor relations practices and the collective bargaining process having worked in a unionized environment. You bring solid experience in change management, and are a strong leader with excellent communication skills. Your knowledge and experience in the field of workforce planning, attraction strategies would be beneficial. You have a proven track record for implementing and sustaining HR systems, processes, and programs. As positive leader you are able to influence internal and external stakeholders. Your high level of business acumen will contribute to your success in this role in addition to your capability to communicate clearly at all levels so as to generate support and commitment for the achievement of organizational success.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Resources or labor relations, or an equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
  • 5+ years in a similar role in Canadian mining and/or natural resources. Experience in manufacturing or other heavy industry will be considered an asset.
  • 5+ years in a union environment with proven labour relations and negotiating skills.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) will be considered an asset.
  • CHRP/SHRP/CRIA designation will be considered a strong asset.
