To be successful, you’ll need to possess:

Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent
Minimum of 1+ years experience in Graphic Design (within apparel industry preferred)
Strong Typography, Illustration, Photo Manipulation and Editorial/Layout Design skills
Prior print and/or apparel industry experience and understanding of production process
Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel & Powerpoint)
Listens and understands the vision of the brand and seasonal direction
Effectively communicates ideas and key information to all necessary departments
Works efficiently within tight deadlines for graphic creation as per calendar milestones
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Problem-solving, ability to multi-task, collaborative and teamwork based abilities
Packaging or Apparel experience and production knowledge
Work collaboratively across multiple departments and with key partners

This is an opportunity to shape our company’s future by:

Responsible for creating custom logos for product embellishment including logos, labels, hangtags, trims, all over prints and packaging
Design, illustrate, size, colour using seasonal palette, and explain technique for all graphics providing references where needed
Work closely with designers and the visual team to develop new and unique designs based on seasonal themes and creative direction.
Create a range of designs from apparel graphics and accompanying trims to in-store signage and campaigns, as well as accompanying documents and internal documents.
Communicate trends how they may benefit and be relevant to Roots and interpreting that into new and unique graphics for a variety of Roots apparel, labels/trims, packaging, window displays, in-store signage, handouts, store guides and other products or collateral.
Maintain embellishment reference binders, graphic files and line sheets in an organized fashion for archival and reference purposes
Review all strike-offs and provide comments to ensure graphics are properly executed from creative concept to production according to the Roots high level of quality standards
Present graphics at various stages of the design process to Designers, Buyers and Senior Management
Research market for graphics/colour trends, sharing ideas with collaborative teams and preparing seasonal graphic direction
Works within pre-approved budget for travel, samples, supplies, etc.
