Job description


OVERVIEW:

 
As a Gates Fluid Power Sales Engineer, you will be part of Gates sales team focusing in developing distribution network to promote the full range of Gates full range of Fluid Power products. Your distributors are mainly small-medium size local distributors servicing area within 5-20km radius. Gates develop market through generating “pull” demands at end market level, thus, regular end market visits and distributor visit is the primary tasks.
 


THE ROLE

 
Reports directly to Malaysia’s Business Unit Manager and functionally reports to Regional Commercial Leaders based in Singapore, the Fluid Power Sales Engineer is tasked to promote sales of our fluid power systems mainly to distributors located in key industrial areas. The aim of this position is to grow the sales with Gates tailored marketing program.
 


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 
The Fluid Power Sales Engineer’s specific responsibilities will fall into 3 primary areas:
 


Sales


Finding new prospective Gates’ distributor in area defined by Sales management
Regular distributor visits to ensure distributors adhere to Gates marketing program and agreements
Conduct direct or distributor joint end-market visit to develop market pull through
 


Marketing


Conducts training, seminars and sales pitch or similar activities to promote Gates range of products
Carryout market research and feedback to regional commercial manager and product line manager for the preparation and planning of marketing mixed and competitors counter measures
 Executes marketing plan in-line with regional commercial manager and product line manager
Analyzing cost and sales and report market analysis
 


Post-Sales Activities


Attends customers complaints and resolve concerns and issues
Ensures customer satisfaction by offering post-sales services

 

KEYS TO SUCCESS: 


Strong interpersonal and communication skill, ability to interact and establish strong rapport externally and within colleagues
Resourceful and ability to establish sales network in multiple sectors
Good commercial awareness; ability to identify potential businesses and markets and avoid bad business opportunities
Understand and able to maintain high-level of integrity and business ethics in compliance to Company corporate directive
Able to travel within Malaysia and work independently
 


YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:


University degree or diploma in engineering or commercial discipline
Qualified passenger car driving license
Good application knowledge in MS office (Words, Excel, PowerPoint)
