Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler’s Mining business currently has exciting opportunities available for Electrical Engineer-in-Training in our Vancouver, BC office. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this opportunity is for you.


Key responsibilities

  • Carrying out duties and responsibilities as assigned by the lead electrical engineer
  • Provide assistance in specific aspects of more complex tasks
  • Performing engineering design and related duties; including calculations and bill of materials in accordance with established specifications and instructions from the lead electrical engineer
  • Participate in the preparation of cost estimates as well as assisting in their review
  • Participate in power system studies, equipment specifications and selection, power distribution layouts, grounding and lighting layouts, schematics and single line diagrams, termination schedule and wiring design
  • Provide assistance on maintaining and planning cost control for all scopes of work
  • Ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures

Skills / Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a EIT designation or ability to register as a Professional with APEGBC
  • 0-3 years direct industrial, mining or process plant experience
  • Experience with ETAP, EasyPower, or similar software design tools are considered an asset
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D design/drafting techniques
