Key Responsibilities

Pre-Delivery Projects

·        Determine the feasibility, design options, risks and costs of transmission and/or distribution grid connections.
·        Design of project connection solutions including substations and overhead/underground lines.
·        Design of project power collection system solutions.
·        Develop connection enquiries and generation license and registration applications.

Delivery and Construction

·        Develop and maintain electrical system designs and specifications for projects, including review of design inputs from external contractors.
·        Develop tender specifications (procurement and works) and assist with the negotiation of procurement agreements for electrical infrastructure.
·        Act as primary electrical lead and develop preliminary designs for wind & solar farm electrical infrastructure.
·        Develop and design earthing arrangements
·        Develop and specify lightning protection studies.
·        Develop and specify insulation coordination studies.
·        Manage the detailed design of electrical works using internal resource and/or external consultants.
·        Provide IFC sign-off for compliance with Australian Standards.
·        Support the Construction Group with professional Electrical Engineering advice and support throughout all phases of project construction.
·        Contribute to the development of ‘as built’ drawings and O&M manuals.
·        Assist with the testing and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure compliance against project, contract and Australian Standards specifications.
·        Complete project documentation for handover to O&M personnel upon completion.


·        Provide technical advice on electrical system failures or incidents.
·        Provide technical advice for upgrades or modifications to operational systems.

·        Contribute to business communications with network service providers.


·        Provide professional Electrical Engineering advice regarding in-house developments, bids and delivery of third party EPC projects, projects under construction and operational assets.
·        Develop tender documents for submission for external bids and other contracting opportunities.
·        Maintain strong working relationships with head-office, internal and external stakeholders.
·        Maintain and improve the technical standards and company procedures.
·        Assist with the development of skills and expertise of colleagues with less experience. 



·        Degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable qualifications.
·        Significant experience (8+ years) in a technical role in the power generation, transmission or distribution industries, including experience in the design and implementation of substations and underground cable systems.
·        Experience producing engineering specifications and drawings.
·        Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary design and construction management team.
·        Strong technical report writing skills.
·        Willingness and flexibility to travel. Current Australian driver’s license.


·        Relevant higher degree.
·        Experience with the physical design of grid connections for renewable energy projects.
·        Experience in wind turbine and/or solar inverter assessment for compliance with Australian Standards.
·        Experience in the use of industry standard software DigSilent (Powerfactory), PSS®E, ETAP, CYMCAP, CDEGS or similar modelling and calculation software packages.
·        Project management skills, qualifications or experience.
·        Experience working across cultures and languages.
·        Chartered Status, NER & RPEQ (highly desirable).
