The End to End Voice and Data Services organization has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Operations IP and Control Networks. Reporting to the Sr. Vice President End to End Voice & Data Services the Director Operations, IP & Control Networks is responsible for leading a team that operates and maintains core network IP and control networks. The responsibilities for this role include the Core IP network and IP Management network, Service Delivery Environments (SDE), Converged Cable Platforms (CCAP), Roaming, SS7 network, and various security and High Speed Internet service applications. These teams are also responsible for the change control of these critical networks including acceptance of new network equipment and services.

In this role, the Director will be responsible for a team consisting 5 direct managers who are all responsible for their individual managed departments. In addition to this, the Director will be responsible to work closely with cross functional departments and teams which includes Consumer, and Enterprise Business Units, Functional leaders, and other Directors within Network


The Directors’ primary responsibilities in this role:


Implementation of changes and In-service performance of all IP and Control Networks: This includes: Problem Management, Incident Management, Execution and follow through ATP, managing vendor service level agreements, preventative maintenance, Platform security (compliance to standards, audits with a restriction of changes), and revenue assurance activities. This requires partnership with the Engineering department and Project Management functions to schedule implantation of changes to the overall schedule of projects.

Other key accountabilities for the Director are: Optimizing support costs by taking ownership of terms & conditions of support contracts, Maintaining optimal staffing levels and problem management to abate issues. The Director will be also responsible for the development of departmental staff which includes: developing and executing development plans, coaching, identifying skill gaps and knowledge sharing with peers in operations and engineering.

For this role, the successful candidate must possess at a minimum the following qualifications and display these core competencies.

Undergraduate degree/post-secondary education in a technical discipline such as telecommunications, engineering or IT systems.
Minimum of 10 years of management experience in Network Operations and or Engineering.
Experience working in the Telecommunication industry with operations experience as an asset.
Being an effective communicator with a very strong executive presence with a demonstrated ability to navigate difficult situations through relationship building, collaboration and influencing others.
Excellent leadership skills.
Ability to develop, track and monitor the execution of large complex projects simultaneously in a fluid fast paced environment with varying priorities.
Strategic thinker who can make decisions and plan, develop and implement innovative solutions.
