About the Project

The West Gate Tunnel Project is a city-shaping project that will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, provide quicker and safer journeys, and remove thousands of trucks off residential streets. The project will include:

Widening the West Gate Freeway from eight lanes to 12 between the M80 Ring Road and Williamstown Road;
Building a 2.8km eastbound tunnel and a 4km westbound tunnel under Yarraville;
Constructing a bridge over the Maribyrnong River providing an alternative to the West Gate Bridge;
Constructing an elevated road along Footscray Road to the Port of Melbourne; and
Major new cycling and pedestrian paths. 
Call for Expression of Interest

We are looking for great people to join our West Gate Tunnel Project team in 2018. If you want to be a member of our team, and would like to commence engaging with us, please respond to this Expression of Interest (EOI). 

We will use this process to identify individuals with the right skills and attributes for the many roles that will be opened up in the New Year. 

A talent pool will be created from this EOI, for roles in the relevant classification or discipline that become available for filling during 2018. All respondents will be sent an acknowledgement and ongoing advice regarding the roles that are available and their status in the selection process. 

NOTE – responding to this EOI is NOT the same as applying for a specific role and also being part of this process does not preclude a candidate from applying for project roles when they are advertised. 

Project Engineers

We are interested in hearing from Civil Construction Engineers with experience ranging from 2 to 15 years for roles as Site, Project and Senior Project Engineers. 

Typical skills and responsibilities

Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications
Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports
Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Project Manager
Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects
Contribute to improvements to existing designs
Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders
Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions
Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards
Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the project
Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting
Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes. 


Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Construction or equivalent. Post-graduate qualifications are an advantage.           


Experience with a Tier1 or Tier2 contractor on large projects
Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities
Understanding of the Project Design Management Plan, Quality Management Plan, Safety Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan
Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
