Emigration check required for nurses looking for jobs in 18 countries

Aug 20,2015

Due to serious malpractices and allegations on the recruitment of nurses in around 18 countries, the Indian government has issued a circular which requires the nurses to take the emigration clearance before they accept the job opportunity in these countries.

Health minister J P Nadda informed the parliament that the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs has issued orders with some changes in the recruitment of nurses looking for jobs in 18 Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries.

The minister said that the Indian Nursing Council (INC) has prepared a computerized register for various nurse categories and each nurse will be assigned a unique number.

This number will enable the nurses for easy movement in interstate, intra as well as inter-country for various job opportunities. Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Malaysia, Bahrain, Yemen, Libya and Jordan are some of the major ECR countries.
